How to Stay Focused Until You Succeed

by Tj Helm on 06,03,0808 in Personal Development

By Peter Murphy

Staying focused is difficult for many of us. Some of us get side-tracked by the events of life going on around us. We allow ourselves to be pulled this way and that, sometimes not knowing where to go next. However, staying focused is primarily an issue of time allocation and programming that time. But it does take practice to make it a habit. Let’s look at some ways to stay focused until you succeed.

First and foremost, you need a set of well defined goals if you are to stay focused. It’s the key! And one way of doing that is to write down what you want to accomplish. As you’re sipping your coffee in the morning, jot down some things you want to accomplish that day.

A set of well defined goals is long-term as well as short-term. A very helpful tool to use to stay focused for the long-term is to plan ahead. This will require you to obtain and maintain some form of scheduling method. This can be done on something as simple as a paper calendar or an electronic one. The point is to start noting every appointment, every deadline, and every dinner engagement you commit yourself to. By maintaining a means of scheduling you will firstly, become more organized, and secondly, because you are more organized, you will stay more focused. Just follow your schedule.

Sometime you may be involved in a project that appears to be overwhelming. What successful people do is break that project into smaller pieces. This strategy is well-known throughout the business world. As a matter of fact, it’s a business principle. Breaking a project down to more manageable pieces makes progress much smoother because there are fewer surprises.

Another strategy the business world utilizes is tracking. Every corporation throughout the world has some form of tracking its progress, whether that is sales, development, acquisitions, etc. Every corporation tracks its progress. You can apply this same strategy to your own success. This is another reason maintaining a written schedule is important. It can help you track progress.

As you see yourself progress keep it in mind, but don’t concentrate on it. Instead, direct your focus to the end result. Sometimes we can get caught up in the emotions of accomplishment and forget where we were going. It is a very good thing to experience the emotions of success. In fact, when we direct those emotions toward the end result they become a motivating source.

Going to bed at a decent hour and waking up early will also help you maintain focus. The body, including the mind, responds better when it receives the rest it needs. A rested body is more relaxed and a rested mind makes better decisions, and as a result, you will be able to maintain a better focus upon your goals.

Related to getting the right amount of rest is taking a moment or two in your day to enjoy some quiet time. Again, even the business world knows the importance of giving its employees a rest break. It’s more productive and production means more profit. That is why every corporation has established break times. It’s to give workers a quick rest. Utilize this same principle in the direction of your success and you will be more focused and motivated to achieve success each and every day.

And when you do accomplish major milestones toward your goal, don’t be afraid to reward yourself, whatever the reward might be. It could be as simple as cooking yourself a nice dinner as you reflect upon your success. Or it could be taking someone out to celebrate that success with you. Whatever the reward might be, enjoy it. You deserve it!

The Law Of Attraction – What Do You Believe?

by Tj Helm on 06,03,0808 in Personal Development

Joy Idries

The main idea that seems to be spouted out these days whenever we hear about the Law of Attraction is that ‘We get what we think about most’. So most of us could be forgiven for thinking at first glance that if we just do something to change our thoughts then our life will automatically change too.

However it is not quite that simple. It leaves out an important element which is that we often SABOTAGE our efforts because of deeply held beliefs that we are not so conscious of … our hidden saboteurs ….which can block or drain the energy of our pure thought vibrations.

So it makes sense to spend some time working to clear these out first. A very common saboteur is the belief that we “DON’T DESERVE” whatever it is we say we want. This means that even if you visualize yourself getting that perfect job, or being finally free from your chronic back pain, or finding your perfect partner, unless you feel that you deserve it you are much less likely to attract it into your life.

Underneath there is a stronger message going out to the universe : “I don’t deserve to have it’”, or “I’m saddled with this dead end job”, or “I’m never going to get a good night’s sleep ever again!”.

With these kinds of beliefs in place you are more likely to attract things and events that further confirm you don’t deserve any better than what you already have. Because these thoughts or beliefs are stronger than what you are hoping to replace them with. So what we need to do first is to uncover and clear out these deeper sabotaging beliefs, which have been acting as a covering layer over our even deeper more essential true and joyous selves.

All that prevents a person from being joyful once again is the pain layered on top. You can cut through these layers, which in reality are really only the patterned, fixed responses that have been handed down to you by your parents. When you do this you will be able to reconnect with your inner wisdom, your wise child, to reclaim your natural spontaneous and joyful self. A child plays in the complete innocence of life and simply assumes without doubt that everything she wants is already there for her. Reconnect to the playful child inside of you, through the imagination of the clown.

As we grow older we lose our connection with our innocent and spontaneous sense of fun. But through LAUGHTER and silliness we can regain our enthusiasm for life and make it more meaningful. It will relax you and empower your choices.

When you have faith in yourself, when you really believe in you and trust that everything is already there just waiting for you to claim it you can visualize what you would like to see in your life and expect it to happen. Then something magical seems to take place. It is as if something ‘wiggles’ in the universe to make it happen, to open the way for everything to come to you.

Brandon Bays, in her book ‘The Journey’ describes how she came to the realization in her recovery from cancer that she had been ‘clinging to the cancer’ rather than the cancer clinging to her. In other words, although she wanted to get well, at first she was still clinging to her old belief that the cancer was ‘out to get her’. It isn’t surprising that she had this original belief, that the world was ‘out to get her’, in light of the physical abuse she suffered in childhood. But it was a limiting belief nonetheless – limiting her access to her own inner greatness – and needed to be cleared before she could open up to and believe in her own magnificent healing force.

When she did, she opened into this stronger belief in her own ability to heal, and the cancerous tumor disappeared, leaving her to continue living her life in perfect health. And all of this happened within the short space of just a few weeks

So the good news is that, although you may have some sabotaging, limiting beliefs tucked away inside of you, you can also uncover and clear them out to make way for beliefs that are more in line with abundant living in all areas of your life.

Training Your Mind To Become An Effective Success Maker

by Tj Helm on 06,03,0808 in Personal Development

By Greg Frost

Unknown to most people, your mind is the key success maker when you do experience that occasional sweet taste of success throughout various junctures of your life. The mind in this case, as a success maker, has got little to do with how high your intelligence is, but rather, more on how you are able to make use of the full potential of your mind to achieve success. In this respect, training your mind to become an effective success maker is very important as it will allow you to develop yourself to the fullest potential in whatever you do, and ultimately achieve success in life.

The first step to training your mind as an effective success maker would be for you to live a life of purpose each day. How many times have you woken up not knowing what to do for the rest of the day? Make the break, its time to change. Rather than be aimless, start off by making a list on what you want to accomplish by the end of each day. This can take the form of anything ranging from your work matters to your family. In doing so, you will give your mind greater focus while subconsciously; allow your mind to move you closer to your goals during the various stages of the day.

Strengthening your focus as you go about your daily objectives is equally important. You would achieve close to nothing should you choose to have goals but let yourself get distracted by other things that come and go each day. Prioritize and be focused on what exactly you want to achieve. Remember, it is not only about a goal, it is also about the most specific detail which you would need to pay attention to which is the key for your mind to develop into an effective success maker.

Should things go awry from time to time, it is also important for you to develop a positive mindset and self-response. Typical for most people out there is to use self-apprehension as a means of response. Quit telling yourself things like “Why did this happen”, questions where there is the possibility of a negative answer. Instead ask yourself forward-looking questions that can only generate positive responses. A good example of this would be “What are the learning points from this’. Remember, there is no point in crying over spilt milk, what’s more important is looking ahead.

Last of all surround yourselves with people with a positive outlook. Ideas tend to be given more space to generate and flourish in a positive environment. Thus, fill your life with all the positive energy surrounding you. This will tend to prevent you from being exposed to negativity which would have the ability to have an impact on your subconscious. By staying positive, thinking positive and being in contact with things positive, you open your way to greater success.

Success is not something that requires you to have astronomical intelligence to achieve. All it requires is mere training of your mind. Doing so will allow your mind to work for you and be an effective success maker.

If You Are Living, You Are Selling!

by Tj Helm on 06,03,0808 in Business Building

By Francine Allaire

When reading that, you might say to yourself … wait a minute I am not in sales, so therefore this does apply to me. Yes it does; in fact, it applies to all of us. Here’s why.

Whether you are obtaining a dinner reservation at a popular restaurant, returning merchandise at a store, dealing with a difficult person, seeking advice, attempting to get your point across, applying for a new position at work, or literally involved with the selling of a product or service for a living, navigating your way through life requires an ability to promote yourself and persuade others of your point of view. And, if you think about it, that’s what sales is all about.

Because sales skills can be applied to so many facets in our life, the more you develop them, the more you will be able to get what you want and deserve out of life. Each of us is always selling in one way or another. Everyone you interact with, everyone who opinions and actions you affect, is a customer in your life. Since none of us live our lives in total isolation – and who would want to even if we could – we all have a vested interest in trying to get better at selling. Once you know how to sell yourself, you can do anything! The rewards can be awesome.

Marketing versus Selling
If selling is so important to each of us in our lives, are you at times a bit confused about the differences between marketing and selling? Simply put, marketing is the act of “bringing the product or service to market”. Selling on the other hand is the process, the steps you take to “close a sale”, to convert a prospective buyer into a customer, or “making a conversion”.

At its core marketing is essentially nothing more than research. That is to say it’s about identifying groups of potential buyers (your target market) and then finding the best way of bringing your product or service to their attention, generally through some form of advertising, online/offline campaigns or through some other outreach activities. Once your potential customers have been identified, you will try to reach them by developing what is called your “Marketing Message”. The more closely your message resonates with the wants, needs or desires of your prospective customers the better the odds of making a conversion, aka, closing sales.

Marketing on-line has some distinctive advantages to off-line marketing methods. The Internet makes it much easier to conduct market research using search engines or keyword searches using specialized programs as well as various other methods.

In minutes, you can accumulate highly accurate real time data on what people are looking at, or looking for on-line. Not to mention finding out crucial information about your competitors as well. The value of this powerful research capability can not be understated. It is priceless!

On-line or off-line, marketing and sales seem sometime to overlap in the development of what is commonly known as the “pitch”. The pitch, of course, is how the marketing message is delivered. It’s where the marketing “rubber” meets the road so to speak.

If the marketing has been done properly then the marketing message will be clearly delivered in ad copy, sales copy or by whatever means you use to bring it before your prospective customer.

Selling, on the other hand, is about persuasion through reason. It is associated with a process called overcoming objections and delivering value in the prospect’s mind. It is a much more intimate one to one technique where a buyer “assists” a prospective customer in making a “buying decision”.

Part of the marketing process is to actually uncover potential objections which might prevent your prospect from being converted to a customer. Selling is in fact where all that marketing research is applied at the point of sale.

While many would say that marketing is only a numbers game, it is really is an art as well. Successful marketers often seem to have an instinct for how to reach prospective customers that goes beyond simply number crunching. They simply seem to know what makes people tick, or perhaps more to the point, what makes them buy.

With Internet Marketing in particular there is a tremendous focus on the numbers. How many hundreds, or even thousands potential customers will see your ad or get your email. It’s easy to get the feeling that if only you have a big enough audience, sales will automatically follow.

Unfortunately many novice markets have fallen into the trap of thinking that bigger numbers make for greater success. It’s no wonder then that so many fail to achieve any success at all.

Part of a good marketing plan of course is all about getting your marketing message in front of as many people as possible, not just any people of course, but the right people at the right time. Never loose sight of who your target market is — and please do not make the mistake of not having a target market to begin with.

If marketing is done well it simply disappears behind the neat graphics and sparkling ad copy. The marketing message come shining through and to stimulate, motivate or excite exactly the right people.

When marketing is done well products virtually sell themselves, right? Well, not so. I would venture to say that good, targeted marketing with get you half the way there. To actually convert a prospect into a customer requires good selling skills. Selling is the art of helping … of solving other people’s problems. “Help,” “solve,” “needs” are the key words that represent the essence of selling. “How will this benefit me?” is the big question in your prospect’s mind, even if they never ask it out loud. Be sure to deliver the answer up front.

One of most common mistakes people make in selling is to try to act as if there’s nothing in it for themselves. You don’t have to hide the fact that you, too, benefit from a sale. Being forthright about that in your attitude and approach can help to establish rapport and trust with the other person. Everyone is expected to win. Here is to prosperous selling!

How do fingernails grow?

by Tj Helm on 06,03,0808 in Did You Know

Fingernails and toenails grow from a point near the roots below the skin, at the base of the nail where the nail is very thin. White in color, and half-moon in shape, this semi-circle is appropriately named the “lunula,” and comprises a group of cells that manufacture keratin, a dead, hoof-like protein. The keratin like protein produced, gathers and merges with the nail plate, the dead armor that protects the soft and tender nail bed underneath, and pushes the entire nail up and out. Though the fingernails and toenails grow an average of two inches per year, their growth slows with age, and the average adult’s fingernails grow only one inch over the course of eight months.

The base of the fingernails and toenails, as well as some of the nail along both sides of the nail, are embedded into the skin. Unlike other skin, this skin contains elastic fibers that connect it to the fingernail or toenail, and hold it firmly in place. The cuticle, a rim of skin over the lunula, protects it from bacterial infection, serves as a shock absorber, and shields the nail from any sudden impacts.

Though many consider dressing the fingernails up to go out a statement of beauty, or one of vanity, they serve those in the medical field as a diagnostic tool. Normally, the lunula, or half-moon, is white in color, indicating proper nutrition and good overall health. Blue lunula raise red flags that circulatory problems to the fingers may exist. Nails that are hard, brittle, and tend to split easily, may also be clues to poor circulation, infection, or disturbances of the glandular and nutritional systems.

Further nails that curl sharply around the finger point to coronary, liver, or lung diseases. Nails that are sunken in appearance often indicate anemia, a condition where an insufficient amount of oxygen is carried by the blood.
